Registry Insight- Model E

The first version of the Model E was the 15-30 which was renamed after the first Nebraska test to the 18-30 and was powered by a 460 cubic inch engine rated to 18 drawbar hp and 30-belt hp. The uprated 20-35 model followed in 1923 with rpm now at 930 (vs 830rpm in the 18-30) which helped up the power ratings to 20- drawbar and 35 belt hp. The final version of the model E featured a larger 510 cubic inch engine rated to 25 drawbar hp and 40- belt hp.
The Machine shown below is part of the Wheatlands Museum Collection at Warracknabeal in Victoria and is a Model 20-25 Long fender variant.

From serial number 8070 onwards the engine serial number is on the left side of cylinder block. Tractor Serial number is on transmission case ahead of gear shifter quadrant.

There are some records that 90 special 30-60 Model E tractors were built with serial numbers ranging from 25612- 25701. The Model 30-60 was known as the Thresherman's Special and was designed for stationary belt driven work and not warranted for ploughing work.
